Luca Doncic’s Historical Buzzer-Beater | 76ers & Nets Eliminated from the Playoffs

On August 23, the 21-year-old Luca Doncic finished the game with 43 points, 17 rebounds, and 13 assists for Los Angeles Clippers versus Dallas Mavericks game inside the league’s bubble at Orlando, Florida. The Mavericks swept the Clippers in a thrilling 135-133 scores for Game 4 first-round of Western Conference playoff series at two games apiece. Doncic played with an injured ankle and dished out a deep three-point shot at the buzzer to give his team an overtime win against the Clippers on Sunday.

In just a matter of the fourth playoff game, Luca Doncic lifted himself as one of the superstars in the National Basketball Association for more years to come. He became the youngest player in NBA history to put up a game-winning buzzer-beater in the playoffs. The previous youngest was Kevin Martin, 23 years old, way back 2006. Doncic is the first player who gained 43+ points, 17+ rebounds, and 13+ assists in a playoff game. The only player who made that many points, rebounds, and assists in a regular-season game was Wilt Chamberlain (53, 32, 14) during 1968.

Dallas Maverick’s Doncic is also one of just two players in NBA history to record a 30-point triple-double in the playoffs before turning 22 years old. He joins Michael Jordan in postseason history to delivered 40-point performance with a buzzer-beater while trailing. Jordan remarkably did it in 1989. He also joins Charles Barkley as the only player who scored 40+ points, 15+ rebounds, and 10 assists in NBA playoff game history. Lastly, Doncic is now the 9th player to record multiple triple-doubles in the league at the age of 21 or younger.

On the other hand, the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets were the first teams to be eliminated on NBA Playoffs season 2019-20. The Boston Celtics defeated 76ers with 110-106 game play. The defending champion, Toronto Raptors, overtake the victory from the Nets at 150-122 scores.
