President Rodrigo Duterte announced last night the new quarantine classifications for the entire month of December 2020.
Metro Manila will remain under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) the same with Batangas, Iloilo City, Tacloban City, Lanao Del Sur, Davao City, and Davao Del Norte. Then the rest of the country is under Modified Community Quarantine (MGCQ) from December 1 to 30.
President Duterte told the critics of government response to the pandemic that the only cure to the virus is washing hands, wearing masks, and staying at home.
“Yan lang ang medisina diyan. Hindi niyo mabili sa utak niyo yan. Walang gamot ‘yan, nasa hangin ‘yan,” Duterte on addressing the critics.
DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III reported to the president that the Philippines ranked 27th in COVID-19 total of confirmed cases and 44th in active cases in the world. Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said that the government is now keeping an eye on areas with a slight increase in COVID-19 cases such as Iloilo, Tacloban, Iligan, Davao Del Sur, and Davao City.
According to DILG Secretary Eduardo Ano, we have 263,000 contact tracers with a 1:6 ratio and family reunions are considered a mass gathering.
President Duterte defended the government against the alleged mishandling of the pandemic saying that people’s money is in safe hands.
