Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, leisure activities are limited to strict community quarantine protocols. Our priority is to ease the transmission and to flatten the curve of confirmed cases in the Philippines. We are living like this for almost a year, and the government can’t blame the public for getting tired of it.

A lot of areas in our country are now under GCQ, despite the increasing number of positives and the threat of the new variant. Of course, the economy needs to be saved in the danger zone.

On the other hand, we can’t avoid people entertaining themselves with things that are finally allowed after a long period. One of them is staying in hotels or enjoying lodging services. Although there are only a few accommodation establishments that are operating, it is still better than none.

According to the IATF for the management of emerging infectious diseases, only hotels or accommodation establishments with valid DOT Accreditation shall be allowed to accommodate guests and clients for legitimate purposes under a state of public health emergency. The operations of such hotels and accommodation establishments, as well as ancillary establishments within their premises such as restaurants, cafés, gyms, spas, function halls, and the like, shall be subject to guidelines issued by the DOT and the IATF. These are the guidelines for areas under GCQ.

Below is the list of hotels accredited for a staycation in Mega Manila:

• Grand Hyatt Hotel
• Makati Shangri-La Hotel
• Okada Manila Hotel
• Shangri-La at the Fort
• Nobu Hotel
• Joy Nostalg Hotel and Suites Manila
• EDSA Shangri-La Manila
• Solaire Resort
• Hyatt Regency City of Dreams
• Nüwa Manila City of Dreams
• The Peninsula Manila
• Aruga by Rockwell

These hotshot hotels prioritize their customers’ health and safety. They make sure that they are following procedures and their guests are being subjected to strict check-in protocols.
In Peninsula Manila, individuals of all ages are permitted to be their guests except those with comorbidities or who are pregnant. They can stay only in the same region as their residence. A valid ID is required upon check-in and should have undergone mandatory testing. A maximum of 3 persons are allowed per room and they must wear face masks and face shields in public spaces inside the hotel.
