After BTS took home prestigious awards from MMA 2020 on the 5th of December, the phenomenal group also got the crown for Artist of the Year and Song of the Year in K-Pop’s MAMA Award 2020 yesterday.
The 22nd show of the annual ceremony was held virtually due to a global pandemic (COVID-19). Bangtan Sonyeondan achieved Song of the Year title for their hit song ‘Dynamite’ that made a positive summer vibe despite numerous crises happening around the world. Bangtan boys with seven members – RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook also kicks off the award for being an Artist of the Year.
BTS took all the grand prizes on Sunday night as expected. They were also recognized as Worldwide Fan’s Choice and Album of the year for their ‘Map of the Soul:7’. Besides, Suga (Agust D) together with IU won the Best Collaboration for their song ‘Eight’ released on May 6.
As usual, the boys didn’t forget to thank the ARMY for their other achievements.
“Big thanks to the Army, who is watching at this time. I am truly grateful that we can come here each year and perform for you. A lot of things have changed this year, but my gratitude remains constant. Every step BTS takes, every growth along the way – we hear about how great our fans are. I want to stress that our Army is the reason we can make this acceptance speech and perform on stage,” J-Hope said upon receiving the Artist of the Year award.
This year’s MAMA was broadcast live from South Korea hosted by the one and only Song Joong-Ki with tremendous performances from shining K-Pop stars.
Among the K-pop acts up for awards on the night were BTS, NCT, Mamamoo, Taemin, Monsta X, Oh My Girl, Ateez, Twice, Seventeen, and many, many more.
